On Friday, 29th November we lit up Gosforth High Street with 80 beautiful Christmas trees!
Following a very successful inaugural lightupGosforth event on Friday, 29th November, with over 450 people in attendance, we would like to thank all of the traders who contributed and also the sponsors, Reeves – The Pension Specialists, LGA FAMILY FOUNDATION & Sweeney Miller Law for their generous donations which enabled our community project to get off the ground.
Huge thanks also to Ridley Brothers of Gosforth & Watsons Timber who made it possible to lightupgosforth.
Great to see our local community coming together to watch the ‘switch on’ by the children of St Oswald’s Hospice and enjoy the carol singing from Newcastle School For Boys.
It was lovely to have festive treats provided by Baby Grey, Babucho and Willis Café in Jesmond, who enjoyed the lights so much that they’ve even added four to their own building on Clayton Road!
Lighting up Gosforth High Street at this festive time is a small step to encourage more people to shop local and support the amenities on their doorstep. The atmosphere on Friday night showed how well received this initiative has been and how much opportunity there is for the High Street economy.
Hoping to make this an annual Christmas event and aiming for bigger and better in 2025!
