We were recently contacted by a very proud mum of two of the inspiring young gymnasts involved in this notable competition and we are hoping our wonderful SY community can spare a few minutes to read about their upcoming adventure.
After a run of thrilling competitions, this wonderfully talented local team aged 14-17, all passionately coached by the hugely dedicated Miss Sam Smith, have qualified to represent their club (City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy) and Great Britain at the Mid-European Championships in Italy this November, which in itself is an incredible achievement. In fact it is the first time in C.N.G.A history a team has made it through to represent Great Britain at the mid-European championships.
These committed young gymnasts have been part of the City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy for over 10 years, most of whom have attended since they were just 4 years old. They have come together, worked incredibly hard as a team and it hasn’t been easy, but the true dedication and passion has meant their dream of representing Great Britain has become a reality.
The team received the official confirmation of this qualification a few weeks ago, which unfortunately has not left them long to raise the funds for the trip. Gymnasts, coaches, parents and friends are super busy organising fundraising activities to help raise money towards the trip, however it is a lot to raise in such a short time.
This group of hugely gifted young people are therefore hoping that the generous and kind people and businesses of the NE (and beyond!) would consider helping the team through sponsorship and donations on their GoFundMe page.
Come on Newcastle let’s help them take this trip of a lifetime and bring home the gold for GB!
